| Getting Back to Basics

While most new North Fork restaurants strive to be fancier than the rest, offering creative new dishes, coming up with the next fruity libation, and trying to cater to the area’s ‘new elite,’ Perry and Melina Angelson, owners of The Loft at Harbourfront, recently decided to step out of the box and figure out what’s lacking among the North Fork’s growing list of popular eateries. After The Loft left its mark as one of Greenport’s finest downtown restaurants, the Angelson’s have gone back to basics, transforming the second floor eatery into a honest-to-goodness burger joint.
More than fifteen 8oz. burgers fill The Loft’s new menu, offering one of the best burger selections on the North Fork. From the Alpine Burger (smothered in Swiss and topped with sauteed mushrooms and onions) to the Hawaiian Burger (with Ham, Pineapple and Mozzarella) there’s something on the menu for every burger lover. If burgers aren’t your bag, The Loft still offers a number of other delicious selections, including steaks, ribs, pastas and sandwiches. Of course, no burger joint would be complete without an array of tempting appetizers and salads.
The Loft, above Greenport’s famous Harbourfront Deli, maintains its classy character, while offering a family friendly atmosphere and affordable menu. With a full bar, The Loft is also the perfect place for an evening cocktail, with a bird’s eye view of Greenport’s Mitchell Park and harbor, the best view in the village. The service is fast and friendly, food portions are generous, affordable and delicious. Hand’s down, the Loft has the best burgers in town.
